Making Tilsets
P  A  R  T    2

Ok, now that you're more or less done with using Photoshop, we can go onto the JCS part.. much easier actually. But just the same, don't even think about emailing us.. we have people who neutralize people who do that ya know =)

Alright you wimps.. run JCS.

First click on the little button labled "Set..." as seen in fig.1.

It should come up with a meaningless (to poor deluded people like you anyway :-) list. Now click on the button labled "Add..." at the upper right of the Tile Set Organizer box.

(fig.1)

The "Description" box is what the set will be "named" in the tileset pulldown for JCS (the tileset choosing pulldown thingy is located to the left of the "Set..." button). The "Filename" box is what your tileset will be named in dos, windows explorer, etc.

Type in whatever useless junk you want in those two boxes, so we can move on.

(look down for an image.. if you really need one)

Now below the Filename box is a pulldown labled "Tileset"

Click on this, and pick your name.bmp tileset that you saved earlier (not the masks).

Now below that, there is another pulldown labled "Mask."

Click on this, and pick the other name.bmp you saved (the one with black and white.. remember? Or is your memory that long... :-)

Now, last (not really) but not least, click on the little checkmark box thingy labled "Remap tile set palette."

This will make it so you can see your score, so you can see what Jazz looks like, read text, etc.. without checking this box, all that stuff will be pure black.

For all this, if you still can't understand it, the image below MIGHT help you a little.. although I doubt it =)

Now that you've completed the above extremely-hard-but-not-enough-to-validate-you-emailing-us-task, click on the cool little button labled "OK"

Now that you're back to the "Tile Set Organizer" box, find your tileset, and click on the button labled "Build." Not "Rebuild All" that's something you probably don't want to touch =)

If it successfuly builds your tileset, then you ACTUALLY followed these instructions correctly! HOORAY!

Now just use the tileset while editing some all new level you're making.

If you had errors, or your tileset isn't working, then guess what? You did NOT follow these instructions correctly!

BOOOOO!

And if you email us, you will never be able to follow these instructions correctly, since they specificly state, DO NOT EMAIL US =)

And Uhm... if you somehow find an incredible urge to email someone...

Email Epic!

Yeah.. that's it.. great idea huh? Too bad I don't give you the address here, guess you'll have to go to www.epicgames.com and find it yourself :-)

SORRY! No disclaimer here.. if you really think I need one, then you belong in the lawyer agency. What would I say? "Uhm, I like, uhm, made this tutorial, and I'm like, uhm, sorry if I like, did anything wrong in it, I was just like.. uhm, trying to, ya know, uhm.. yeah, make a tutorial.. like, you know?"
Well, I don't... like that. I'm not putting a disclaimer here.. so there!
